No room for a huge cherry tree in your yard? Consider planting dwarf cherry shrubs developed by the fruit breeding program at the University of Saskatchewan. In this podcast we will chat with program head Dr. Bob Bors who worked with a team to bread and introduce the Romance Series of Cherries. We will talk to Loretta Bors, Dr Bors wife, who worked with a group of colleagues to write the award winning cherry cookbook “Cooking with Cherries from the Prairies” (by Cecilia Kachkowski, Loretta Bors and Lily Sawatzky). And also in the studio will be Virginie Gysel, founder ofTransition Toronto and Transition Guelph’s TreeMobile project, a volunteer project that distributes and sells carefully chosen fruit tree varieties – including some of Dr Bors cherry shrubs – to the people of Guelph, Cambridge, Richmond Hill and Toronto! The Urban Forestry Radio Show and Podcast is hosted by Susan Poizner,, creator of the award-winning fruit tree care portal www.orchardpeople.com and author of the award-winning fruit tree care book “Growing Urban Orchards”.
