We are pleased to announce the winners of this year’s grant. It was very difficult to choose from among so many amazing projects that are making the world more caring, sharing, fun, healthy, and delicious! As far as we are concerned, you are all winners.
Grant awards were judged by region: Guelph and western areas; Toronto and environs; there were an approximately equal number of applicants in both areas. Thank you to the judges for their time and thoughtful evaluations.
Western Region Judges were in deadlock, we could not get a consensus. So we compromised and gave all of the top three the Orchard grant.
- Edible Forest Heights, Kitchener
- rare Charitable Research Reserve, Cambridge
- Flamborough Baptist Community Garden, Flamborough
- Toronto & Environs It took many phone calls and emails, but we narrowed it down.
- Garden at Kimbourne – Forest Grant
- Morningside – High Park Community Garden – Orchard Grant
- Greenest City and Friends of Masaryk Park – 3 trees (upgraded Garden Grant)
- Mashkikii;aki’ing Medicine Wheel Garden – Runner-up
If sales warrant, we will be able to donate more plants, so please keep promoting! And let’s all keep planting great food plants. Those who did not receive a grant, please feel free to apply again next year.
